“The Theatre Time” is an international festival of theatres that has taken place in Opole since 2001. In June TAK School and the Association of Open Theatre organize theatrical meetings for the young actors’ groups and off-theatres that present street performances. The invited groups take part in theatrical workshops, during which the final joint spectacle is prepared. It is presented on the last day of the Festival.
All of the meetings included in the “Theatre Time” had their mottos in the previous years – they created themes of the prepared spectacle:
- in 2001 it was “The Procession”
- in 2002 – “The Dictator”
- in 2003 – “ The Time of Ark”
- in 2004 – “ The Children’s Play According to Breugtl”
- in 2005 – “The Street Theatre”
- in 2006 – “Panta Rei – All Flows”
All groups are going to cooperate during workshops on the first three days. The workshops will be run by the leaders and directors of the invited groups, there will also be cooperating theatre people.
On 29th and 30th of June there will be the presentation of street spectacles at Plac Wolności in Opole ( a square in the city centre). It will be initiated with the parade along the Opole streets. We would also like to prepare the “Children’s Morning”- a spectacle for children, in which invited guests will take part.
On the 1st of July, the last day of the Festival, there will take place the presentation of the last spectacle, “Fire”, in which all participants will take part.
100 participants, theatre group members from Poland and other countries, will take part in this project.

- workshop groups – preparing the spectacle “Fire from Fire”
29 – 30 June
- presentation of street spectacles showed by invited theatre groups – the event will take place in the “theatre town” at Plac Wolności;
1 July
- presentation of “Fire from Fire” by all festival participants
Information for future participants:
The organizers will not refund the cost of journey, but on the other hand the cost of accommodation and boarding will be covered.
All spectacles are presented in street conditions.
Group number: up to 12 people.
Age of participants: 16 – 25 years old.
